Matching Gift announced for UJFT Ukraine Emergency Fund

by | Apr 21, 2022 | Trending News

The Tidewater Ukraine Emergency Fund has raised and distributed more than $280,000 as of Tuesday, April 19. The money has been sent to United Jewish Federation of Tidewater’s overseas partner agencies, the American-Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI) to be used to assist refugees and those still in Ukraine to ensure that urgent relief reaches the most in need—as quickly as possible.

But so much more is needed.

Millions of Ukrainians, including tens of thousands of Jews, have fled the country and millions of others are internally displaced.

Now, a very generous donor who wishes to remain anonymous, has offered a $200,000 matching gift for the UJFT Ukraine Emergency Fund. Again, these dollars will quickly be distributed to multiple overseas partners and relief organizations as the crisis in Ukraine continues to escalate.

The Tidewater Jewish Foundation to date, has distributed more than $235,000 to support relief efforts for those sheltering in place and fleeing the conflict zone, with $135,000 distributed to the UJFT Ukraine Emergency Fund.

If you would like to help deliver hope and assistance when it is so desperately needed and take advantage of this matching gift opportunity, please do so now.
