Lighting the way, writing our story together

by | Dec 6, 2019 | Other News

Tidewater’s Jewish community came together on September 26 to find strength in shared values, envision our community’s future, and IGNITE our 2020 Community Campaign. We celebrated our Tidewater community and recognized the individual impact of each gift, as well as the collective impact of Jewish Tidewater to meet both local and global needs.

At IGNITE 2020, we focused on our 2020 Vision and continued to write our story—one of helping our most vulnerable neighbors in Tidewater, as well as in Jewish communities around the world who require our support. Our story of meeting increased security needs in area Jewish institutions and synagogues. Our story of combating anti-Semitism on college campuses throughout Virginia. Our story of Jewish Tidewater— known nationally and internationally as a Jewish community that cares about our people, no matter where we may be or what we may need.

Thank you to everyone who has already made a gift to the 2020 Community Campaign. in our second year of an accelerated Campaign, slated to conclude by December 31, 2019, we are building on last year’s momentum through which we were able to meet increased local educational and security needs, as well as provide greater assistance to many beneficiary and partner agencies. This could not have happened without the funding and cooperation of so many.

If you have not yet had the opportunity, please take the call from one of our Campaign ambassadors and make your 2020 gift. it is only with more Tidewater community members taking this call, being connected, and being engaged that we will continue to strengthen Jewish Tidewater. When we ignited the flame three months ago, we concentrated on writing and sharing our stories. As we approach Hanukkah, please help us continue to light the way in order to ensure a bright future for our community.

Wishing you and your families a warm and joyous Hanukkah and conclusion of 2019.
