Kol Yisroel aravim zeh b’zeh

As we approach the end of 2020, I believe most of us can agree that it has been tumultuous and that 2021 cannot come soon enough!

Still, in the face of unprecedented challenges, our Jewish community remains strong, engaged, and committed.

The strength of our community is demonstrated every day in so many ways—by organizations and individuals who care for our most vulnerable, educate our children, and ensure Jewish identity, continuity, and spirituality.

Thank you to every one of you who has played a role in these endeavors, who are committed to the Tidewater Jewish community and our future—today, tomorrow, and together.

You have demonstrated those commitments this year through your investments in our community.

Your contributions to the COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund, established and administered by United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, in collaboration with our partners at Tidewater Jewish Foundation, exemplify one such commitment. Together, we have been able to help address the urgent needs of our agencies, schools, and institutions. (Match funding for human services needs locally continues to be available for pledges to this fund through December 31. Please contact me if you would like more information.)

In addition, you have invested through your gift to our annual Community Campaign. Never has it been more evident why we have a Community Campaign—to secure both the present and future of Jewish communal organizations, activities, and way of life that we value. . .locally and globally. Through your commitment, you are helping to ensure our future as a Jewish people and as a strong and vibrant Jewish community.

As 2020 draws to a close, I want to thank each of you as important members of this Jewish community for all you do to help keep us strong and vibrant. Kol Yisroel aravim zeh b’zeh—we are all responsible for one another. And if 2020 has shown us nothing else, it has shown us this.

From my family to yours, I wish each of you a safe, meaningful festive season marked by light and togetherness.
