Charlotte, N.C.—Born in Antwerp, Belgium, Jack Mendel, age 85, and a longtime resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away after a longtime battle with Parkinson’s disease surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vera, his children Shelly Simon (Britt) of Virginia Beach, Va. and Jodi Parsons (Dave) of Delray Beach, Fla. He also has three grandchildren, Connor Speizman and Sydnie and Logan Simon.
A graveside service was held at the Hebrew Cemetery of Charlotte. Donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte and Jewish Family Services. McEwen Funeral Service-Pineville Chapel.
