End of Summer Shabbat to be filled with friends, food and fun

UJFT’s YAD and the Simon Family JCC’s End of Summer Shabbat Dinner and Pool Party Friday, August 26, 5 pm

The End of Summer Shabbat dinner is the first of the 2017 Campaign year, and to kick it off, several new and exciting activities are on tap, along with popular ones from previous years.

While families eat and lounge by the Simon Family JCC’s outdoor water park, games will be held in the pool for adults and kids alike. Fun cool off activities include a beer dive and a coin dive in the pool. And new this year, is the first ever Summer Shabbat pie eating contest. In addition to pie, there will of course be summer barbecue classics such as a chicken dinner (nuggets for the kids), black bean salad, corn on the cob, and adult beverages.

Last year, more than 100 attended the Shabbat dinner and pool party, and this year, JCC and YAD hope for even more.

The End of the Summer Shabbat Dinner and Pool Party is an excellent opportunity to gather together the families in the community and enjoy a celebration together at the pool.

Purchase tickets online at SimonFamilyJCC.org/Shabbat, at the front desk, or by calling 757-321-2338.

Early bird tickets, purchased by August 23, are $8 for kids ages 3–12 and $12 for adults. After August 23, prices rise to $10 and $15, respectively.

The pool party and games begin at 5 pm, with Shabbat blessings and dinner at 6 pm.

Make sure to stick around until 6:40 pm, when the all-ages pie-eating contest starts.
