Business

Dear Readers,

From Downtown Norfolk to Tel Aviv, Jewish businesses and entrepreneurs positively impact everyday living with an array of products and services.

Consider the Israeli company, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, whose headquarters for its North American and Caribbean branch is located in Norfolk. This firm literally moves products around the globe. The president of ZIM USA took time last month to meet with members of the Business & Legal Society of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater.

Our piece on Sam Goldman, founder of d.light design, a company that provides reliable, affordable and accessible solar lighting and power systems for the developing world demonstrates how it is possible to combine tikkun olam with good business. He was the recent recipient of the 10th annual Charles Bronfam Prize.

Fortunately, we also have our own good people and good businesses right here in Tidewater. Our profile of Wall, Einhorn and Chernitzer, a CPA firm celebrating their 25th anniversary, is a prime example. The three founders of the firm have created a successful, inclusive place to work, while making considerable monetary and volunteer contributions across our community.

We also have an article on a study conducted by Tel Aviv University on advertising. Even if you have nothing to do with advertising except watch television, you might find this information interesting.

It’s only business…
