Beth El’s 165th — Sunday, May 3, 7 pm

by | Apr 17, 2015 | What’s Happening

Congregation Beth El will celebrate its 165th anniversary with a free and open to the community commemorative program.

The program, Beth El Norfolk 1850–2015: What We Built, is made possible in memory of Maxwell and Burnette Zedd by their children, Kay Kesser and Ronald Zedd.

The evening will feature a video journey down memory lane, including clips of personal stories, hundreds of old photos and a history of the sanctuary’s stained-glass windows— all enhanced by professional and amateur music.

A display of kiddush cups made by the synagogue’s youth and by professional artists, including the Chrysler Museum’s glass studio, will be available for sale and by silent auction. A reception will follow.

“Remembering the past while honoring the present is threaded throughout the evening,” says event chair Mickey Held. “What better way to stitch them together than to honor all our congregants, from generation to generation, l’dor v’dor.”

Make reservations by calling Congregation Beth El at 757-625-7821 or by email noelle@bethelnorfolk.com.
